Adam Jiříček makes successful NHL debut with St. Louis Blues

Czech defenseman Adam Jiříček made a successful NHL debut with the St. Louis Blues in a 4-0 victory over Dallas. Jiříček played 16.5 minutes, recording a plus rating, two shots, one hit, and one blocked shot. He also scored a goal in the third period, though it was subsequently overturned following a successful offside challenge by Dallas.

St. Louis coach Jim Montgomery praised the 20-year-old, stating he looked as though he had been in the league for three years due to his composure and ability to create plays. Jiříček's opportunity arose following injuries to Logan Mailloux and Tyler Tucker.

Meanwhile, Slovak defenseman Maxim Štrbák has begun the season with the Rochester Americans in the AHL. Despite being a high-potential prospect for the Buffalo Sabres, increased competition within the organization's defensive depth has resulted in him starting the season on the farm rather than with the NHL roster.
