Adam Ramsay-Peaty’s Commonwealth Games medal remarks ignite family feud

Britain’s swimmer Adam Ramsay-Peaty won bronze in the 100 m breaststroke at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and later said he only keeps Olympic medals, dismissing his bronze as “just a piece of metal”. His remarks were condemned by Olympic champion Greg Rutherford, who called the comments arrogant and disrespectful.

Ramsay-Peaty’s interviews also omitted any reference to his family, crediting his pregnant wife Holly for support during a “whirlwind” 24‑hour period and acknowledging a public rift with his parents and siblings that has “taken its toll”. His mother Caroline Peaty later posted a supportive Instagram message, saying she still loves her son despite the feud.
