Shinnecock Hills Hosts 2026 U.S. Open Golf Championship

The 126th U.S. Open will be played June 18‑21 2026 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York. The par‑70, 7,440‑yard links‑style course is known for its tight fairways, deep rough and fast, undulating greens. Wind gusts of 25‑30 mph are expected, adding to the difficulty.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler arrives seeking the career Grand Slam, which would make him the seventh player to win all four majors. Other top contenders include Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick and a contingent of LIV Golf players such as Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton.

Australian golfer Adam Scott will make his 100th consecutive major appearance, joining Jack Nicklaus as the only men with such a streak. The field comprises 156 players, with 68 earning entry through final qualifying and the rest via exemptions.

Broadcast coverage is extensive: in Australia the event will be shown on Fox Sports 503/505 and Kayo Sports; Sky Sport Golf and NOW will carry it in Italy; in the United States the tournament streams via the USGA app, Fox Sports Go and Apple TV. Betting markets highlight Scheffler’s Grand Slam bid and Fitzpatrick’s form.

Organisers have widened the fairways and plan to keep the greens firm and dry, aiming for a stern yet fair test that should produce a memorable major.
