Adam Sýkora to miss 4-5 months due to injury

Slovak forward Adam Sýkora will be sidelined for four to five months following an injury sustained during a New York Rangers preseason game against the New Jersey Devils. The 24-year-old attacker was hit by Devils defenseman Mikael Diotte during the first period, causing him to strike the boards.

While initial reports suggested a knee injury, Sýkora’s father, Roman, clarified that the player suffered a broken ankle on his right leg along with ligament damage. Due to the ligament involvement, doctors determined that surgery was necessary.

Sýkora was competing for a spot on the Rangers' opening night roster following a successful stint with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL. His return to competitive play is tentatively expected in January or February, depending on his rehabilitation progress.
