ADAM test serves as a screening tool for androgen deficiency
The ADAM test, which stands for Androgen Deficiency in the Aging Male, is a ten-question screening questionnaire used to identify symptoms associated with low testosterone levels in aging men. Also known as the Morley questionnaire, it was developed by a team led by John E. Morley at Saint Louis University in the United States, with validation published in 2000.
Rather than being a definitive diagnostic tool or a marketing gimmick, the ADAM test serves as an epidemiological tool. It is a self-administered questionnaire that allows individuals to report symptoms through a series of “yes” or “no” answers. Its primary purpose is to determine if a man's constellation of symptoms warrants further clinical investigation via blood tests. It does not measure hormone levels directly, provide a formal diagnosis, or qualify a patient for testosterone treatment.
