Adam Vinatieri Inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame

Kicker Adam Vinatieri will become the third full‑time placekicker ever to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, joining Jan Stenerud and Morten Andersen. Vinatieri, a four‑time Super Bowl champion, retired with NFL records that include 2,673 career points, 599 field goals, the most attempts (715), a streak of 44 consecutive makes and 21 seasons of 100‑plus points.

His reputation for clutch performances was forged in moments such as the 45‑yard field goal in the 2002 AFC divisional playoff in blizzard conditions, the 23‑yard kick that sent the Patriots to the conference championship, and the 48‑yard game‑winner that secured New England’s first Super Bowl title in 2004. After ten seasons with the New England Patriots, Vinatieri spent 14 years with the Indianapolis Colts, adding a fourth Super Bowl ring in 2006 and breaking the Colts’ career scoring record before retiring in 2019 at age 47.
