Adam Vinatieri sets Guinness World Record for highest field goal

Hall of Fame kicker Adam Vinatieri has set a Guinness World Record for the highest field goal ever executed. The attempt took place at Jungfraujoch in the Swiss Alps, at an altitude of 3,454 meters (11,332 feet) above sea level.

Performing in snowy conditions with swirling winds, Vinatieri noted that the thin air significantly impacted his breathing, heart rate, and kicking rhythm. The event was organized in partnership with Jungfrau Railways as part of a countdown to the New England Patriots’ upcoming game against the Detroit Lions in Munich on November 15.

Vinatieri, who retired as the NFL’s all-time leader in field goals with 599, remarked that while snow was a common element during his career with the Patriots, the extreme altitude provided a completely unprecedented experience.
