Adam Wingard Confirms Onslaught Joins The Guest Universe at Comic‑Con

At a San Diego Comic‑Con panel, director Adam Wingard announced that his upcoming thriller Onslaught is the third installment of a loose trilogy that began with You’re Next and continued with The Guest. He said the new film shares the same town as The Guest and functions as a spiritual sequel, not a direct continuation.

The panel, moderated by Kevin Smith, featured cast members Adria Arjona, Dan Stevens, Rebecca Hall, Drew Starkey and others. Wingard explained that Onslaught follows a rogue squad of genetically engineered super‑soldiers and a hardened Army sniper protecting her daughter, marking a shift from his recent monster‑film work to an ultra‑violent 80s‑style thriller.

Both Wingard and Stevens described the connection as “in the same universe,” confirming the trilogy concept while emphasizing the fresh story direction.
