Adam Wingard confirms ThunderCats live-action film is still in development

Director Adam Wingard has confirmed that the live-action ThunderCats film remains in development despite a period of silence. While the project has faced delays, Wingard stated that the adaptation is “not dead” and “still kicking around.”

Wingard noted that a new draft of the script was completed earlier this year. However, progress was temporarily paused to allow him to focus on his upcoming film, Onslaught. He explained that while the project is active, it is currently not his primary priority as he manages his current production schedule.

The project, originally announced by Warner Bros. in 2021, is intended to be a large-scale fantasy sci-fi spectacle. Screenwriter Simon Barrett is collaborating with Wingard on the script, aiming to capture the aesthetic of the original 1980s animated series.
