Adam Zampa signs two-year deal with Hobart Hurricanes
Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has signed a two-year contract with the Hobart Hurricanes for the upcoming 16th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). This move marks the fifth different franchise Zampa will represent in his BBL career, following his previous stints with the Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Adelaide Strikers, and Sydney Thunder.
Zampa cited the opportunity to play alongside familiar teammates from the Australian national squad, such as Nathan Ellis and Riley Meredith, as a primary factor in his decision. He noted that the Hurricanes' bowling resources would likely support both team performance and his personal success.
In addition to his move, Zampa expressed skepticism regarding recent BBL structural changes. Despite a new contracting system designed to give Australian players more negotiating power by scrapping the overseas players draft, Zampa suggested that overseas recruits may still receive more favorable financial advantages.
