Adama Koné leads parliamentary session in Bouaflé to combat illegal mining
On September 11, 2026, Adama Koné, the deputy for Bouaflé and president of the RHDP Parliamentary Group, led a major parliamentary restitution session in the Marahoué region. The initiative, part of the ‘National Assembly beyond walls’ program, aimed to increase transparency and accountability by informing citizens about recently adopted laws.
During the session, Koné presented 12 legislative projects impacting the Marahoué region, covering sectors such as governance, agriculture, land tenure, health, and social protection. The event saw significant local mobilization, including participation from village chiefs, community leaders, and various civil society groups.
A primary focus of the meeting was the fight against illegal gold mining. Regional Prefect Georges Gueu Gombagui expressed concern over the rise of clandestine mining, noting its role in land degradation, water pollution, and health risks caused by toxic substances like mercury and lead. Local deputies pledged to support government efforts to target not only the miners but also the financiers and facilitators of these destructive activities.
