Nigeria security agencies conduct nationwide arrests for arms and mining
Security agencies across Nigeria have conducted multiple operations resulting in the arrest of suspects involved in arms trafficking, illegal mining, and banditry.
In Anambra State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested three individuals for the illegal mining of sharp sand at Obiaja River. Authorities impounded two tippers and recovered excavation tools used in the unauthorized activity.
In other regions, the Nigeria Police Force arrested 10 suspects in connection with arms trafficking and kidnapping networks across Imo, Rivers, and North-Central states. Similarly, in Kaduna, police apprehended a suspected gun runner and three members of an armed bandit gang, recovering AK-47 rifles and RPG ammunition.
The Department of State Services (DSS) dismantled a terrorist arms supply network in Katsina and Nasarawa states, arresting a key supplier, Abubakar Mubarak, and an ammunition courier.
Additional law enforcement actions included the arrest of two suspected vandals at a quarry in Cross River State and the apprehension of two suspected cattle rustlers in Kano State.
