Nigerian police arrest multiple suspects in robbery and fraud cases

Police commands in several Nigerian states have conducted multiple arrests related to various criminal activities.

In Anambra, Okechukwu Igwegbe was arrested in Nnewi for the alleged possession of a pump-action gun and 11 live cartridges. The suspect has reportedly declined to comment on the source of the weapons. Additionally, 22-year-old Nwachukwu Chidubem Blessing was apprehended for allegedly staging her own kidnapping to extort a ₦3 million ransom from her family.

In Adamawa, authorities arrested three individuals, including 20-year-old Aminu Adamu, for an alleged robbery of his own mother and siblings in Jimeta. The suspects reportedly stole ₦200,000 and mobile devices. In a separate incident, two men were taken into custody for the alleged theft of irrigation pipes valued at approximately ₦3 million from a farm belonging to the late Bamanga Tukur.

These operations involve various specialized units, including the Rapid Response Squad and Tactical Teams, as investigations continue into the provenance of weapons and the full extent of the conspiracies.
