Adamawa Police arrest three suspects in fatal assault of tea seller
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the fatal assault of Muhammad Auwal Idris, a tea seller in Jimeta. The incident occurred on September 28, 2026, at Nassarawo Borehole.
According to police spokesperson SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the attack followed an altercation involving a shopkeeper and a cigarette. Idris reportedly became involved in the argument while attempting to purchase seasoning. The following day, the primary suspect, 20-year-old Isah Yakubu, allegedly brought two accomplices—Japhet Hassan, 24, and Eric Alfred, 19—to the victim's workplace, where they severely beat him.
Idris was rendered unconscious and died after being rushed to a medical facility. Following an intensive manhunt, police tracked and arrested the suspects in Taraba State. The Adamawa State Command has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of the individuals involved.
