Adamawa residents demand removal of Jambutu DPO

Residents of Jambutu in the Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State are calling for the removal of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Shadrack Samuel Suvunku. The Jambutu Development Community Association has accused the officer of conducting indiscriminate arrests, including the detention of minors.

Community leaders, including Vice Chairman SD Kinu, allege that the DPO has engaged in extortion, claiming that parents are often required to pay between N10,000 and N20,000 to secure the release of their children or relatives. Residents expressed concern that these arrests frequently occur during evening hours when citizens are engaged in lawful activities. The association has appealed to the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police to investigate the allegations and replace the officer to restore community trust and cooperation.
