Suspected Boko Haram fighters launched an early-morning attack on Nzangula village in the Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Monday. The attackers reportedly opened fire on residents and set several buildings on fire.
Local officials and residents report that at least 12 people were killed during the invasion. The Chairman of Gombi Local Government Area, Markus Ishaya, confirmed the deaths and noted that two others were injured and receiving treatment at the Cottage Hospital in Gombi. The attack also resulted in the abduction of one woman, the burning of an EYN Church and three houses, and the vandalism of two shops.
Search teams and security personnel are currently combing nearby forests to locate individuals who may have fled into the woods during the raid. While residents reported seeing at least 11 bodies, the total number of casualties remains uncertain as search efforts continue.
