Adams County worker airlifted after tree limb accident

A 66-year-old tree clearance worker, Victor Martinez, was airlifted to a hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, following a serious workplace accident in Adams County, Mississippi.

On Friday afternoon, deputies responded to the Upper Kingston Road area where Martinez was cutting a tree. A large, hanging limb broke loose and struck him in the head, causing him to fall and strike his head on a nearby stump. The impact resulted in severe lacerations and other significant injuries.

Emergency medical personnel treated Martinez at the scene before an Air Evac medical helicopter transported him to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten issued a statement emphasizing the dangers of tree removal work, particularly when dealing with weakened or suspended limbs, and urged workers to remain vigilant.
