Adana environmental inspections result in millions in fines

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change conducted extensive inspections of 170 recycling and waste import facilities in Adana to combat microplastic pollution in the Mediterranean Sea. During the three-day operation, authorities identified 13 facilities operating in violation of environmental regulations, resulting in fines totaling 30,499,000 TL and the suspension of activities at 12 plants.

These inspections are part of a broader regional crackdown involving Adana, Antalya, Hatay, Mersin, Gaziantep, and Muğla. Since July 1, a total of 1,396 inspections related to water, marine pollution, and waste have been carried out across these six provinces. This regional effort has led to administrative fines totaling 153,599,814 TL against 76 facilities and the closure of 28 plants.
