Adana heavy rainfall disrupts peanut harvest

Heavy rainfall in the Kozan district of Adana, Turkey, has significantly disrupted peanut harvesting operations. In the Kamışoba neighborhood, where approximately 1,000 decares of peanuts are planted, only 500 decares have been successfully harvested so far.

The intense precipitation has turned fields into mud, preventing agricultural machinery from entering the land. Farmers are currently waiting for sunny weather to dry the soil so they can resume work. There are growing concerns among producers regarding potential yield losses and fiber breakage caused by the excessive moisture.

Local farmer Adil Eker reported that the weather conditions could drastically reduce output, noting that expected yields of 500 kilograms could drop to as low as 200 or 250 kilograms due to the impact of the rain.
