Adana hospital supervisor detained in 15 million lira medicine theft
A warehouse supervisor at the Radiology Department of Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine Balcalı Hospital in Adana has been detained following the theft of medicines valued at approximately 15 million lira.
The discrepancy was discovered by a temporary replacement staff member during a routine inventory count while the primary supervisor, identified as C. S. (36), was on annual leave. The audit revealed that 19,000 units of medicine were missing.
During police interrogation, C. S. claimed that he was being threatened by creditors due to personal debts. He stated, “I had debts. The people I owed money to threatened me. For this reason, I took out and sold 2 million liras worth of medicine. I have no knowledge regarding the rest of the medicines.” A multi-faceted investigation into the incident is ongoing.
