Adana hosts Turkey's first live-case drug-eluting balloon cardiology congress

The “Drug-Eluting Balloons and Beyond” congress has commenced in Adana, Turkey. Organized through a collaboration between the Adana Cardiology Association, Adana Training and Research Hospital, and the University of Health Sciences Adana Faculty of Medicine, the event focuses on the use of drug-eluting balloons and current treatment methods in interventional cardiology.

Prof. Dr. Şerafettin Demir, Chairman of the Adana Cardiology Association, noted that this event is the first of its kind in Turkey and only the fourth globally, following similar meetings in Madrid, Berlin, and Rome. A unique feature of the congress is the live evaluation of medical cases; for the first time, three simultaneous live cases are being performed in the angiography laboratories of Adana City Training and Research Hospital and broadcast directly to the congress hall for real-time academic discussion.

Adana Provincial Health Director Halil Nacar stated that the goal is to establish Adana as a regional hub for health services and medical scientific research through increased investments and high-level scientific gatherings.
