Adana: Man arrested after fatal stabbing in Yüreğir park

A fatal stabbing occurred in a park in the Yüreğir district of Adana on August 17. The incident began when Mehmet Gökten Ö., a waiter, entered a park to rest after his shift. A verbal dispute arose between Gökten Ö. and Mehmet Büyükkılıç, reportedly triggered by a perceived stare from the latter.

The confrontation escalated into a physical fight, during which Büyükkılıç fled to a nearby cafe for safety. Gökten Ö. pursued him into the establishment and stabbed him multiple times. Despite being rushed to Adana City Training and Research Hospital, Büyükkılıç succumbed to his injuries.

Following the attack, police conducted an operation at the suspect's residence and apprehended Mehmet Gökten Ö. In his statement to authorities, the suspect admitted to the stabbing, claiming the altercation started after he confronted the victim regarding his behavior in the park. He has since been arrested by the court.
