Kars infant death investigation leads to arrests of mother and grandmother
In Kars, Turkey, an investigation has revealed details regarding the death of a one-day-old infant. Authorities determined the child died after a napkin was placed in its mouth. Following an exhumation of the grave, the mother, H. K., and the maternal grandmother, B. E., were arrested on charges of intentional killing of a child and descendant.
During questioning, the mother stated she realized her mother intended to kill the baby but felt unable to intervene. The grandmother claimed she had previously suggested placing the child in state care, but the mother refused. The grandfather, S. E., was released under judicial control.
Separately, in the Değirmenlik Başpınar region, a woman identified as S. Ö. appeared in court for allegedly setting fire to her ex-boyfriend's home. The suspect reportedly acted after finding red underwear in the residence, leading her to believe she had been cheated on. A judge ordered a travel ban, a 50,000 TL cash bail, and required two guarantors to sign for 1,000,000 TL each.
