Adana Metropolitan Municipality doubles graveyard plot fees

The Adana Metropolitan Municipality has implemented a 100 percent increase in graveyard plot fees for its 2026 tariff. Following a municipal council decision, the price per square meter has risen from 7,000 Turkish Liras to 14,000 Turkish Liras.

Under this new pricing structure, a standard 3.5 square meter burial plot will cost a total of 49,000 Turkish Liras. The decision has drawn significant criticism from local residents, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, who argue that the costs are prohibitively high and inconsistent with social municipalism principles.
