Adana parent paints pedestrian crossing for school safety

In the Gülbahçesi neighborhood of Adana, a parent has taken matters into his own hands by painting a pedestrian crossing on a busy street to ensure student safety. The road serves five different schools, with approximately 7,500 students, along with teachers and parents, using the area daily.

Hasan Güçlü, a parent of two children attending school in the area, stated that he had previously submitted both verbal and written requests to the Adana Metropolitan Municipality for safety measures such as signaling, speed bumps, or a pedestrian overpass. According to Güçlü, the municipality only installed a warning sign and failed to implement any further safety infrastructure.

Expressing concern for the lives of the students, Güçlü noted that the lack of proper crossings or speed bumps creates significant danger, particularly during school arrival and dismissal hours. He emphasized that authorities should take preventative measures before an accident occurs, stating, “It doesn't have to cost someone their life for something to be done.”
