Adana jewelry thief arrested after stealing 115kg of silver
A jewelry craftsman, Mehmet Ali L., has been arrested in the Seyhan district of Adana, Turkey, following a major theft of approximately 115 kilograms of silver and valuable prayer beads. The suspect allegedly targeted the wholesale silver business of İshak Ş., a former business associate, after facing financial difficulties and bankruptcy.
According to reports, the suspect entered the business center before closing time and hid inside to wait for employees to leave. He then used an oxygen cylinder to cut through the locks of the shop's steel door. After filling suitcases and sacks with silver bullion and processed items, he spent over seven hours at the scene. Due to the heavy weight of the stolen goods, he reportedly hid some of the silver in bushes before transporting the rest via motorcycle to his home.
To evade detection, the suspect allegedly attempted several disguises, including wearing a helmet to hide his face, using patterned socks to cover tattoos, and painting his motorcycle a different color. Police tracked his movements using approximately 980 security cameras over a 10-kilometer route. Authorities recovered about 55 kilograms of the stolen silver, which has been returned to the owner. The suspect has been formally arrested.
