Adana police dismantle insurance fraud ring using staged accidents
Authorities in Adana have dismantled an organized crime network accused of defrauding insurance companies through staged traffic accidents. The investigation, coordinated by the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, revealed that between 2022 and 2026, the group used pre-damaged vehicles to simulate new accidents.
By registering the same vehicles under different drivers and creating fraudulent accident reports, the syndicate successfully obtained illegal compensation from 17 different insurance companies. Forensic reports and accident investigations confirmed that all 76 analyzed accidents were part of scripted scenarios.
Using data from the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), HTS records, and surveillance footage, investigators uncovered a highly organized division of labor involving vehicle procurement, file creation, and the distribution of illicit funds. During simultaneous raids, police detained 77 out of 88 suspects, with operations continuing to locate 10 fugitives.
