Adana service drivers stage protest against new license‑plate auction

In front of the Adana Metropolitan Municipality, dozens of service‑vehicle drivers gathered to oppose the municipal decision to hold a new auction for "S" service licence plates. The drivers, organized by the Adana Service Drivers Chamber, argued that the existing number of plates already meets the city’s demand and that issuing additional plates would dilute earnings and increase competition among small operators.

Chamber president Aydın Bulut said the plan would harm the livelihoods of drivers already facing rising costs, while fellow driver Mahmut Işıkcan highlighted the city’s deteriorating road conditions and urged the municipality to prioritize infrastructure over the plate issuance. The demonstration remained peaceful and concluded without any incidents.
