Adana woman critically injured after husband defies restraining order, stabs

In Adana, 37‑year‑old Çiğdem Er, a mother of two, was severely wounded when her husband Gökhan Er (42) entered her home on July 2 despite a court‑issued restraining order. He repeatedly stabbed her in the back and liver, leaving her in intensive care. Police arrested Er and a court later ordered his detention.

Similar domestic‑violence cases surfaced in nearby Turkish cities. In Hatay’s Kırıkhan district, 34‑year‑old H.Y. was arrested after threatening and beating his 24‑year‑old wife S.Y. with a knife in front of their children, leading to charges of assault and deprivation of liberty. Both incidents underscore rising concerns over enforcement of protective orders and the safety of women seeking divorce in Turkey.

Authorities responded quickly in each case, dispatching emergency services and detaining the perpetrators. The incidents have prompted calls for stronger measures to protect victims during separation proceedings.
