Adanero prepares for total solar eclipse on August 12

The small town of Adanero in Ávila, which has only 207 inhabitants, is preparing for a total solar eclipse on August 12. Local authorities are bracing for a significant influx of visitors, with estimates ranging from 2,000 to as many as 10,000 people.

Due to its low light pollution and proximity to Madrid, Adanero is one of 72 locations in Castilla y León recommended for viewing the phenomenon. To manage the expected crowds, the municipality has implemented a mobility and security plan involving the Police and Civil Guard. Visitors will be directed to an observation point on a large plain outside the town center, equipped with parking and portable toilets.

Mayor Natalia Torrecilla described the event as an extraordinary and unrepeatable phenomenon for current generations. The local government is working alongside the Diputación de Ávila to coordinate the 'Eclipsados' program, which includes various activities to ensure the event is experienced safely.
