Adani Group announces Rs 1 lakh crore investment plan for West Bengal
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, has announced an ambitious investment plan of Rs 1 lakh crore in West Bengal over the next decade. Speaking at the Indian Chamber of Commerce annual session, Adani outlined a strategy to leverage the region's geographic position as a strategic node connecting various parts of India to Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific.
The planned capital deployment covers several key sectors, including industrial infrastructure such as ports, logistics, roads, and bridges; energy and technology, including power generation and hyperscale data centers; and cultural conservation initiatives.
A major component of this expansion is the Adani Arogya Mandir, a 2,000-bed medical campus in New Town, Kolkata. The foundation stone for this healthcare project has been laid, with the facility intended to function as a comprehensive medical ecosystem. Notably, 50% of the hospital's capacity—1,000 beds—will be reserved for economically disadvantaged patients eligible under government health-insurance schemes.
