Adani Group expands Indian infrastructure footprint amid rising debt

The Adani Group is expanding its footprint across several Indian states, including Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Himachal Pradesh. The conglomerate is pursuing a project pipeline estimated at approximately Rs 5 lakh crore, focusing on sectors such as roads, ports, power, renewable energy, cement, and data centers. In Karnataka, Adani Enterprises has emerged as the lowest bidder for a 16.75-km tunnel road project in Bengaluru, quoting Rs 22,267 crore.

Parallel to this expansion, Adani Enterprises has seen an increase in consolidated gross debt, rising to Rs 97,622 crore as of June 2026 from Rs 86,702 crore in March 2026. The debt increase is driven by various segments, including the airport business, which holds the highest debt at Rs 32,843 crore, and the road segment at Rs 18,024 crore. The Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL) ecosystem, focused on green hydrogen and solar manufacturing, also reported a rise in debt to Rs 4,528 crore during the same period.
