Adani Group leads bid for Bengaluru North-South Tunnel Road

The Karnataka government is accelerating the ‘North-South Tunnel Road’ project to alleviate traffic congestion in Bengaluru. The 16.75 km project aims to provide direct connectivity from Hebbal in the north to Silk Board in the south.

Adani Enterprises Limited is currently leading the bidding process for the contract through Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited, having submitted the lowest bid. The project will be implemented under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. The state government will provide 40% of the total cost through Viability Gap Funding (VGF), while the private partner will invest the remaining 60%.

The estimated cost has risen to ₹22,267 crore due to the use of advanced tunnel boring machines and safety technologies. The final decision will be reviewed by the state cabinet. Once completed, the tunnel is expected to reduce travel time between Hebbal and Silk Board to approximately 20-25 minutes.
