Adani Ports reports 15% cargo growth and expands Sri Lankan terminal

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has reported a 15% year-on-year increase in cargo handling, reaching 280 million metric tonnes (MMT) during the first half of FY27. This growth was supported by rising activity across its port network and a 11% increase in cargo volumes specifically during September 2026.

In a separate strategic move, APSEZ is doubling the capacity of the Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT) in Sri Lanka. This expansion aims to increase transshipment volumes at Colombo Port, positioning the terminal to better serve global supply chains connecting Asia and Europe. The development is expected to enhance Sri Lanka’s competitiveness in regional maritime trade and boost foreign exchange earnings.
