Adanuriel Rosal targets first Venezuelan gold at Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics
Venezuelan swimmer Adanuriel Rosal aims to secure the country’s first-ever gold medal in swimming at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar. While swimming has historically provided Venezuela with three silver and one bronze medal at the Youth Olympics, a gold medal remains elusive.
Rosal, who currently trains with the Olympians Swimming club in Vancouver, Canada, will compete in the 100, 200, and 400-meter freestyle events. His competitive history includes breaking six state records and one national record at age 11, as well as winning four gold medals at the 2024 Bucaramanga School Games. In 2025, he earned seven gold medals and three national youth records, alongside two bronze medals at the Central American Games in Santo Domingo.
Rosal is recognized for his ability to combine sprinting explosiveness with long-distance endurance. Following the Dakar 2026 cycle, he intends to continue his athletic progression toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
