Adapazarı: Ministry of Education staff killed by neighbor

Hakan Turak, a procurement officer for the Sakarya Provincial Directorate of National Education, was fatally shot in the Adapazarı district of Sakarya. The incident occurred in the 15 Temmuz Camili neighborhood when Turak returned to his former residence to collect a few remaining personal items.

Turak had previously moved to the Korucuk neighborhood to escape ongoing disputes with his downstairs neighbor, Selim T. Upon returning to the old apartment, a verbal altercation between the two escalated into a physical confrontation. During the fight, Selim T. allegedly opened fire with an unlicensed handgun, striking Turak multiple times.

Despite medical intervention at the hospital, Turak succumbed to his injuries. Following the attack, the suspect fled to a nearby mosque, where he contacted emergency services to report the shooting and express his intent to surrender. Police subsequently took Selim T. into custody at the mosque. An investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
