Aday Mara debuts with Oklahoma City Thunder in NBA Summer League
Spanish center Aday Mara, the No. 12 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, made his first appearance for the Oklahoma City Thunder during the NBA Summer League in Salt Lake City. The Thunder were routed 111‑74 by the Memphis Grizzlies, but Mara posted a well‑rounded stat line in 22 minutes: 10 points on 5‑of‑8 shooting, three rebounds, four assists, two blocks, one steal and three turnovers.
Mara impressed with his back‑to‑the‑basket moves, size (2.21 m tall with a 2.29 m wingspan) and playmaking, delivering passes that led to easy baskets for teammates. He said, “Creo que ahora mismo estamos intentando entendernos como equipo,” noting the limited practice time the rookie and his new teammates have had. Coaches highlighted his passing ability as a valuable asset for the Thunder’s frontcourt, while also noting the need for stronger rebounding as he adjusts to the NBA pace.
The Thunder, the reigning NBA champions, view Mara as a potential contributor to their title‑contending roster, while his opponent Cameron Boozer of the Grizzlies also drew attention for a strong debut.
