Omoyele Sowore loses bid to compel DSS Director General to testify in court
Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate for 2027, has suffered a legal setback in his trial for alleged cyberbullying of President Bola Tinubu. At the Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice Mohammed Garba Umar dismissed Sowore’s application to compel the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Tosin Ajayi, to appear personally as a witness.
Sowore’s legal team argued that the DSS Director General should testify regarding the agency's official activities related to the case. However, the DSS countered that the matter involves official rather than personal acts, and therefore any delegated official could provide testimony. The judge ruled that the subpoena concerned an official act of the DSS and that the testimony was not personal to the Director General.
This ruling marks Sowore’s fourth loss in the ongoing proceedings. During a court session, Sowore also reportedly engaged in a verbal confrontation with a lawyer who allegedly insulted him, demanding a withdrawal of the remark.
