ADC rejects ICPC report on PFIPC scandal, demands full probe

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the interim report released by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) regarding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal.

The opposition party criticized the report as "inadequate" and described it as "predictable damage control" that focuses heavily on prosecuting Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi, the individual accused of presenting himself as the head of the organization. The ADC argues the investigation fails to address how a non-existent agency was able to operate within government structures.

Key questions raised by the ADC include how the purported agency secured office space within the Federal Secretariat, obtained official vehicles, and had civil servants assigned to it. Furthermore, the party demanded clarification on a reported ₦1.3 billion allocation for the council in the 2026 federal budget, questioning how such a sum passed through official documentation and verification stages without detection.

The ADC has called for a full probe into the government officials who may have enabled the scheme and previously advocated for an independent panel rather than an investigation led by the ICPC.
