Addai-Nimo alleges threats and sidelining within NPP

Francis Addai-Nimo, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, has leveled allegations of intimidation and unfair treatment against party leadership. Addai-Nimo claimed that Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, chairman of the NPP’s Council of Elders, threatened him to withdraw from the presidential race, warning that he would face similar treatment to what he allegedly experienced under former President Akufo-Addo.

Addai-Nimo further disclosed that during Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s 2016 campaign, he personally funded his own fuel, hotel, and food expenses, receiving assistance from the campaign only in its final days. He stated he chose to remain away from government roles during the party's eight years in power to preserve his personal peace, anticipating he would be sidelined.

In response to internal divisions, NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called for all factions emerging from internal elections to dissolve and unite. Bawumia emphasized that the party must focus on rebuilding and preparing for the 2028 elections, urging members to put differences aside to regain power.
