Addiction treatment programs mark milestones in Argentina

Public health initiatives for addiction treatment are marking significant milestones in Argentina. The Institute for Research, Assistance, and Prevention of Addictions (Iapa) is celebrating ten years of operation in Formosa. Established in 2016, the institute provides a decentralized public network including 11 centers with multidisciplinary teams located in Formosa, Clorinda, and Ingeniero Juárez. The model focuses on primary health care and direct government management to ensure free access to treatment, including individual care, psychoeducational workshops, and intensive support through the “Dr. Eduardo Macedo” Therapeutic Community and the “Evita” Therapeutic Residence.

In Alto Comedero, the municipal government recognized the second anniversary of a therapeutic community specifically for women within Penitentiary Establishment No. 3. The local administration has declared the work of this community to be of municipal interest, highlighting its role in rehabilitation and social reintegration through various wellness tools, such as yoga classes.
