Additive manufacturing industry targets technical and collaborative barriers
The additive manufacturing (AM) industry is focusing on overcoming technical and collaborative barriers to achieve broader industrial adoption. Dr. Daniel East of CSIRO and the AMCRC notes that while advanced simulation tools, process qualification, and certification pathways are essential, developing these capabilities often requires resources and expertise beyond the reach of single organizations. He emphasizes that breaking down barriers where companies view these challenges as individual competitive advantages is necessary for collective progress.
In a related development, Instruct3D has launched its Additive Build Intelligence solution to address the gap between printing complex metal parts and proving their reliability at scale. Based on research from the University of Sheffield, the technology utilizes the VertX hardware and AdditiveOS software platform to move beyond simple process monitoring. The system aims to provide manufacturers with actionable intelligence to predict build issues, verify builds, and reduce trial-and-error in metal additive manufacturing.
