Adecco reports increased local hiring in mining operations
Adecco has reported that hiring individuals from communities near mining operations has evolved from a social responsibility practice into a strategic factor for mining sustainability. The company has achieved up to 45% local talent incorporation in the operations it manages, which helps strengthen social licenses, reduce logistical costs, and support operational continuity.
Opportunities for local workers vary by project stage. During exploration, roles include drilling assistants, field assistants, and geology aides. Production stages offer positions in maintenance, warehouse management, security, and industrial services. Even during mine closure, requirements exist for environmental remediation, monitoring, and logistics personnel.
Aarom Saavedra, New Business Manager for Mining at Adecco Peru, noted that incorporating community personnel from early stages helps strengthen relationships with the environment and develops capabilities that meet operational needs. However, challenges remain in closing gaps regarding technical skills and experience in industrial environments.
