Adeje begins eviction of Tenerife's largest illegal settlement

The Adeje City Council, in coordination with the Canary Islands Government and various security forces, has begun the eviction of the largest illegal settlement on Tenerife. The operation targets occupants residing on private and public coastal lands located between Idafe Street and the road to Puertito, near the Cuna del Alma luxury development.

Authorities have issued eviction orders to individuals living in makeshift structures, including wooden pallet dwellings, caravans, and prefabricated houses equipped with solar panels and pools. Officials estimate that between 300 and 500 people reside in the settlement. The council noted that the site, located near the La Caleta Scientific Interest Site, has seen a shift from occasional residential use to illegal residential and vacation rentals.

Occupants have 15 days to dismantle their structures and restore the land to its original state. Following the initial operation, the municipality plans to continue clearing informal settlements in other areas, including El Valito, Llano Negro, and Las Moreras.
