Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has shared the emotional backstory behind his 2019 hit song, ‘Simile’. The artist revealed that the track was written during a period of profound grief following the death of his father in 2019.

Gold described the songwriting process as an attempt to find something to lean on while navigating feelings of loss and uncertainty. He noted that performing the song years later with an orchestra served as a reminder of his personal growth and resilience, stating that his younger self could not have imagined the musical success and dreams he is currently realizing.

The song is featured on his latest project, ‘Fuji Orchestra’, which features orchestral arrangements of songs from his Fuji-inspired musical work.
