Adelaide Crows player Josh Worrell pleads guilty to driving charge

Adelaide Crows defender Josh Worrell pleaded guilty to driving without due care at the Adelaide Magistrates Court following a collision with a pedestrian in Woodville on July 10.

The court heard that Worrell entered a pedestrian crossing and struck a pedestrian, potentially while distracted. Prosecutors stated that his driving “fell well short” of expected standards, though they noted it was fortunate the pedestrian was not more seriously injured.

Worrell was originally charged with both driving without due care and failing to report the accident to police, but the latter charge was dropped. His legal representative described the incident as “a momentary piece of bad driving” and noted that Worrell was extremely remorseful. Following the accident, Worrell reportedly assisted the victim by conveying him to the hospital and remained with him for three hours to ensure his wellbeing.
