Adelaide University adds new professional and graduate certificates in defence law, journalism and museum studies

The University of Adelaide announced three new study programmes. A Professional Certificate in Defence Contracting Law, a 0.25‑year full‑time (or 1‑year part‑time) 12‑unit program aimed at lawyers and contract managers, includes courses LAWS5062 and LAWS5066 and teaches legal, ethical and intercultural aspects of defence contracts.

The university also launched a Bachelor of Journalism majoring in Strategic Communication. The degree combines journalism fundamentals with strategic media training, covering digital, print and broadcast platforms, media law, policy and ethics, and prepares graduates for roles such as corporate affairs strategist, communications manager or journalist.

Additionally, a Graduate Certificate in Curatorial and Museum Studies was introduced. Delivered in partnership with the South Australian Museum, the six‑month (or part‑time equivalent) programme covers collection management, exhibition design, cultural heritage ethics and Aboriginal perspectives, equipping students for careers in museums and the broader heritage sector.
