Adele Toniutto selected for Italy's javelin team at 2026 Mediterranean Games
Twenty‑five‑year‑old javelin thrower Adele Toniutto, a Montebelluna native competing for Team Treviso, has earned her first call‑up to the senior Italian national athletics team. She will represent Italy at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto from 21 August to 3 September 2026, marking the first time an athlete from Team Treviso has been selected for the senior squad.
Toniutto’s selection follows a breakthrough season in which she threw 57.45 m at a meeting in Strasbourg in early June, setting a new Veneto record and moving her into the top ten of the all‑time Italian rankings. The performance builds on her previous experience with the under‑23 national team at the 2023 European Championships in Espoo.
The athlete credits her progress to technical and mental development under coach Emanuele Serafin and the support of her club. The Taranto Games will give her the opportunity to compete against the best Mediterranean javelin specialists and gain valuable international experience.
