Adem Hasbaş sentenced to 16 years for death of Tuana Elif Gülüşan Torun
A Turkish court has sentenced Adem Hasbaş to 16 years and 8 months in prison for the death of 17-year-old Tuana Elif Gülüşan Torun. The Giresun 3rd High Criminal Court convicted Hasbaş of 'possible intent to kill' after a forensic report indicated he was driving with a blood alcohol level of 1.97 promille when he struck Torun on a coastal road in Görele.
Torun was also the victim in a separate legal case involving Hasbi Dede, the former Mayor of Görele. Dede was removed from office by the Ministry of Interior and expelled from the CHP following allegations of sexual harassment against the teenager via electronic communication. Dede was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for those charges.
