Ademola Adeleke defends dancing habit as distraction from governance

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has defended his frequent public dancing against political critics, asserting that his hobby does not interfere with his official duties. Speaking at an Arise TV town hall meeting for candidates in the upcoming Osun State governorship election, Adeleke described himself as a ‘prudent worker’ and stated that dancing is a personal and family trait that has not hindered his governance.

The governor’s remarks follow criticism from political opponents, including Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, who recently referred to him as the ‘dancing governor’ during an APC campaign rally. Adeleke responded by suggesting that those who criticize his dancing could learn the skill themselves, maintaining that there is a distinct time for both recreation and work.

To counter claims of negligence, Adeleke highlighted his administration’s achievements in various sectors. He cited the construction and rehabilitation of roads, the installation of solar-powered streetlights to enhance security and economic development, and the establishment of over 200 health centres across the state.
